MBSC 2020 Annual Session Details

It is my prayer that these greetings find you well.  We have come to the time to announce our plans for our annual session.  This year, we will hold our annual session virtually beginning October 12th.  We realize how different and difficult this may be for many of our constituents and we encourage you to press on.

The difficulties we encounter in life are never designed to destroy us, but are rather designed to develop us. When we overcome life’s challenges, we become better for having gone through it. This has never been truer and more applicable than the times of challenge we live in today. The world we live in has been drastically and forever changed. Life, as we know it, will never go back to what we were accustomed to. So, as a convention, we too must embrace the changing landscape and seek to grow through these challenges.

There will be no requirement for individuals to register in order to attend our virtual convention. We are however, asking each church to register with the convention and its auxiliaries. To make it easier for you to do this, a church letter has been provided giving all the registration details which will allow you to write one check to cover all registrations.  You may mail in your funds or submit via  /donations on the website.

We have established several periods of training and practice for our members to learn how to use and how to navigate through our virtual convention. This year’s virtual convention platform is “Microsoft Teams”. We encourage you to look at the scheduled practice/trainings and join in early and often to become familiar with it. Dates and times are on the attached schedule.

We will also offer ‘webinars’ to address the church and it’s response to the issues surrounding our contemporary “Social unrest” and a “How To” webinar focusing on best practices for virtual worship/study. The webinars are free and open to all. Our Congress of Christian Education will also offer virtual classes each evening as detailed on the Congress attachment. We encourage you to continue your Christian growth by enrolling in a class.

Finally, our Ministry Leaders will address us each morning and meet with you in a virtual meeting space each afternoon. Let me encourage you to participate in your virtual sessions and to be generous in your financial support of your leaders through Cash App or Givelify.

I am excited about our upcoming session and look forward to seeing you in our virtual meetings and practices. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Yours in service,

Rev. Dr. Linden Bowie, President
Missionary Baptist State Convention of Missouri
